The Man In The Canary Waistcoat by Susan Grossey

A lovely review of The Man In The Canary Waistcoat by Susan Grossey by Janis Pegrum Smith of the Historical Novel Society.  Don’t tell anyone, but I do secretly dream of one day seeing Sam and Martha “in the flesh” on the telly…

    Dear Susan

As you say, a lovely review.

Your secret about seeing Sam and Martha on the television is safe with us but, out of interest, who would you cast in the Sam and Martha roles ??

    Best Wishes

    Graham

      Dear Graham

You will not be surprised to hear that I have given this some thought….! In the role of Sam, I would quite like someone like David Mitchell spruced up (Sam would always be neat) – not leading man material, not pin-up good-looking or muscular (and of course rather limited in stature), but steady and solid and with an innate decency about him.

As for Martha, I think Claudie Blackley would do a good job – but she’d need to curl her hair.

And for Wilson, perhaps Russell Tovey, if he’s tall enough.

Perhaps I should send them all a copy of the books…

      Best wishes from Susan
